State of the art [modern, technologisch geavanceerd]
They invested a lot of money in a state-of-art-office, but unfortunately many employees still do everything in the old fashioned way.
Take the bull by the horns [iets moeilijks op een dappere, directe manier doen]
He works hard but he has been late six times this month. I think it is time to take the bull by the horns and fire him.
The elephant in the room [een groot of controversieel probleem dat duidelijk is, maar waar niemand over wil praten]
I think that if we ignore this issue in our next meeting, it will turn into the elephant in the room.
Up in de air [als iets nog onbeslist is]
Our goal is to produce twice the capacity by the end of the year, but everything’s still up in the air.
Upper hand [als iemand een voordeel heeft over aan ander]
She has the most experience in the field, so she has the upper hand.
White collar [iemand die op kantoor werkt: klantenservice, management, sales etc.]
Most of the work here is done online or over the phone, which means that we have a lot of white collars.
Writing on the wall [aanwijzingen dat er iets (vaak negatiefs) gaat gebeuren]

Yes man [iemand die het altijd met de baas eens is]
The company doesn’t want to hire someone who is going to try to make a lot of changes, so they’re basically looking for a yes man.
